Thanks for the post Big Guy. Hope you are O.K. You raise a very good point. At least my perception of using peroxide is dabbing with a cotton ball, or using to clean a small cut. I don't think of soaking in it. You can go through a lot of peroxide that way.

I will be buying considerably more.

Where the F*(k were you, to get bit by a dog? what were you doing at the time?

If I run or walk, even on a bike; I carry a long walking stick just to take care of dogs. Out in the rural areas wild dogs are a major problem. Not only do they attack farm animals, but a lot of them have rabies.

So you should have had the dog taken in for a check up to see if it is rabies free. If not, you should have been given the rabies shot series, 20 shots in 20 days all in the stomach area (long needle). Do not take the chance of getting rabies because it's 90+ percent death rate.

A good example of why we should keep up our tetanus shots. Get one every 4 years or so whether you have an injury or not to be on the safe side if SHTF!

What happened to the dog? I would not let a dog that bites go unreported. Usually it's the report from a .22, but some animals get the report of the .410.
If it was man made it can be man re-made.

If the 22 report is suppressed, the owners probably won't know to complain about the report being filed. LOL.

Big Guy, the Amish folks down the road carry the 35% hydrogen peroxide for about $15 a gallon .... diluted to the typical 3% would give you a little over 11 gallons .... this stuff is very caustic.

They have another solution that I've used .... an iodine/ pine oil solution that I can't give enough praise.

Crushed activated charcoal will draw the toxins from a wound/ injury, apply externally and/ or ingest .... PetSmart.

    Hope you're feeling better.

    O.W.,
Careful buying and/or storing (35% or +)in much quanity. It's watched as a improvised explosive/rocket propellent ingredient by big brother.

Thanks for the info Dale. While doing some research I read that there is also 95% H2o2 that helps put rockets into space ....

I imagine there are lots of things nowadays that were once common, everyday use that cause big bro soil their trousers.

Thanks for sharing Big Guy. I definitely need to add to my stock of peroxide after reading that. Glad to hear it's healing up. I'm going to add a big stick to my outdoor workouts too.
