God does not need to destroy us. He made this universe and Natures laws that govern it. In any self-correcting system when the laws are not followed consequences ensue automatically. So, God does not actively respond to our behaviors with extra effort on His part when we don't follow the rules. The consequences are written directly into the way Nature works.

As for me, I will continue to try to live a good life, but even if God does not rescue me from the ravages of this world I will still choose to worship God.

You are right, God does't need to destroy us. We are doing a great job of it all by ourselves. But, I do know that God has turned his back on this country and unless this country repents of it's behavior (abortion, killing, love of money (government) gay marrage, etc. then God will allow things to happen to us as a country. I pray for this to happen and the country to repent, but with Obama at the helm it will never happen. Not as long as he is for all of the above mentioned.
