Good grief! It gives me the willies just looking at those pictures! I'd prefer a room full of rattle snakes than spiders. All the ID I require is, "Yep, thats a spider...... stomp!" I might would borrow one of Griptilian's size 13s for a good stomp, too.

    Thanks man,
Stomp one for me. Since we had such a mild Winter we've had so many spiders & ants in our home. There was one in our den about a month ago the size of a quarter, I told my wife to step on it. When she did the thing jumped about 3" off the floor before she squashed it. Suckers are bold!

    C'mon guys,

If you don't like these little guys, you'll love these friendlies. This guy is a U.S. Local.

And these guys find there way here in bannana shipments. I've seen 2 of them in the U.S.. One was in Hawaii in 84'.

And this is what they do.

Besides, your not in the amazon basin and you don't have to eat one of these big ones for dinner. Taste like crab when cooked. LOL. What memories the army provides. LOL

If they're of the poisonous or deadly variety I say stomp away, but most spiders are good to have around the house (maybe not in) but a lot of these spiders prey on insects that are an annoyance to outside activities especially skeeters. I have a beautiful orb weaver outside my bathroom window and when I put the dogs out at night to do their business I can almost see the excitement in the little bugger as soon as the outside light goes on. She's in full assault mode knowing some tasty treats are on their way. Sure enough by the time the dogs are ready to come in she's usually got a couple of skeeters and moths, and she's busier the a one legged man at an ass kicking contest.

I've watched her grow to a considerably large size in the couple of months shes been there. Her web is a work of art which she keeps in fine working order, amazing creatures if you can get past the fear factor. But I understand where most of you are coming from so I really can't change that. Just remember not all of them are a danger to humans and have their rightful place in nature.

    JLBIII,
If your interested, at the end of the season (or whenever) if the web is in a place where you can or you put the spider in a box for a while. You can spray the web with polycrylic, let it dry until stiff and mount it in a picture frame on a black or dark background and have a natural piece of art.

Thanks Dale I'll have to try that. I'll wait for the weather to get colder and for her to abandon it. Hopefully I'll get it done before the wind takes it down. If not better luck next year, I hate to disturb her she's doing a great job.

Didn't even know the brown recluse was in the northeast until I was bitten on two different ocassions. These damn things are awful. Quick sharp pinch and you can bet you need some type of medical attention. The necrosis produce by one of these guys is not pleasant and takes quite some time to clear up. Scrapping the wound to clear out dead tissue becomes a must. I might be more sensitive to these guys then most for some unknown reason but ever vigilant now. Kill them all.........I'm scared.
