Default A little venting, if you don't mine

I have a pet peeve - getting charged more than something is worth, especially at restaurants!

My wife wanted to attend a play. I'm not that much into plays. The play was being held outdoors on the grounds of a really nice micro-brewery. I am into good beer!

So we drove up last Friday evening. We didn't have time for a "sit down" meal because I got a bit confused and made a wrong turn, but no need to go into all that, is there? But we did have time for a couple of brews and a take-out order.

We had two IPA pints, and ordered one Bar-B-Q sandwich and a cheese burger, both with chips. The bill? $32.99! The pints were $5 ea. (Service sucked, btw)

Now, this brewery retails some of its brews at local grocery stores. A six-pack of this same IPA at Kroger's retails for $9.99. Thats 72 oz. The same quantity at the brewery would be $18! So, they can produce it, wholesale it, then retail it for less than what they charge where they make it! Does that just sound WRONG!

I realize that you folks reading this are from all over... many from places where the cost of living is considerably more than here in rural central Va. But I gotta say, two beers w/ two sandwiches with chips for $32 is frigging robbery around here!

And my wife says.... "Well, what did you expect?" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

What the market will bear. They got you over a barrel. Plan ahead, pack a sandwitch and take a cooler.

Well they got you to attend the FREE SHOW, and then had you pay for it by 3X the normal prices. If enough people show up they will continue to do the same.

That about sounds right for my area too. Of course, we are a military town and contrary to popular belief, there aren't many discounts. The booze is off the chart here because soldiers will pay it.

Just like going to the movies, pay twice as much for food then the show...with the price of things it`s going to get a lot worst

A big purse and an innocent looking grandma can bypass the No Outside Food Or Drink at the movies. Of course, if it is the drive in no problem.
