I'm sure I will watch the show although no firearms already puts me off if that is true. I have a really hard time with movies or T.V. shows that aren't even plausible. To read from the original post " life is back to what it once was before the industrial revolution." Arguably the Industrial Revolution started in the 1700's. There were plenty of firearms around during the Industrial Revolution.

We have posted here before. I wish the show would focus on what happened when TSHTF, and the immediate aftermath. Going to 15 years later leaves a lot of things open to speculation.

There are hints that the collapse was on purpose, and the main theme of the show is the female lead trying to solve the riddle of what happened while fighting against the "conspiracy". So I am sure the mechanism of the collapse will be covered.

With the shorter sword you still have the benefits of a sword, but you will have to get a little closer. I think that is a fair trade for the quicker swing and less fatigue.

I know, the odds that all of this are slim, but still, this is an area I know probably better than anything else.
I studied and taught martial arts, with a large focus on stick fighting and edged weapons.

Food for thought since you mentioned getting a blade.
I hear u on that account, I wasn't talking about a full size sword like u said I was leaning toward the mid size or a little smaller. I'm to old swing that heavy a blade. I have practiced some with a long sword and my arm felt like lead after just a half hour of practice. Plus the length in the sheath would be awkward for me. I'm might be using the wrong word when I say sword, I want something longer than my 10" knife but shorter than a long sword that good for slashing and stabbing. Thanks for the advice u r welcome to advice me any time because that is why I'm on this forum.

I watched the extended trailer tonight and there was an antique firearm used by a member of the new government. When people are disarmed, they are subjects.

If the premise is humanity would revert back to pre-industrial technology only and suddenly forget how to use hydraulics, steam, pulleys, belts, and such they are sorely mistaken. Just in my county alone is a wealth of gas and steam powered sawmills, threshing machines, lathes, mills, and other machinery. Oh, and the guys who know how to run and repair them.

I am holding out hope for this show, but I will not be too let down if it bombs.

I too am keeping an open mind, but come on. We aren't all going to get amnesia if it is TEOTWAWKI. The first thing people will try to do is get back power (electricity) and water and sanitation. Towns will grow around these facilities as they come back.

Wac220 you are right. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

Yeah, I think there are some very liberal "green" undertones to this series. it doesn't surprise me. I guess it happens 15 years after a collapse. Funny.... my Mosin was made in 1929 and is still in great shape.

With a little deductive reasoning behind the previews...seems there is something that is "disabling" all electric devices, hence nobody is able to build/rebuild a new one (I'm deducing that the little pendant is some kind of over ride or protection). There are guns, I saw at least a couple of flintlocks. I'm assuming no modern firearms because of lack of ammunition? but that's a guess/assumption since without power it would be impossible to manufacture a modern center fire cartridge. Don't know if 15 years of strife/survival is enough to deplete all supply, so that might be a stretch, but come on, it's a made for TV fiction show, not a Docudrama or Survival Guide

The guy down the road had an internet business, he was selling replica sword and knifes…when he got married his wife did not want him to have them so I bought a bunch of them for about $250. He also had a few real swords I could only afford one of them.
