(as posted on another blog) PN - did you get the chance to tune in? Anything on your end?

............................I guess we can close the exercise here in the eastern half of the US. It's a good thing a few here in the WV eastern panhandle combine the event with a meet up! We at lease had a good time discussing issues and a show & tell on some of our "personal protection devices". Certainly nothing happening on the CB.

I had a big scare this morning when I connected a newly constructed jumper coax in line and the SWR meter showed no modulation. Good signal but no swing. Grab another mic to try but no improvement. So I quickly connected another radio in line and everything was okay.

AM hours indicated the skip conditions were not going to very good. And that assessment carried into the afternoon hours. Noise picked up some and so did the foreign langauge from across the border. Other channels had the same outcome so we dicided to call it a day. Still at this hour there are a few signals from the islands on the upper channels especially 28 where some locals hang out.

There was a lot of interest and I hope that resulted in all taking a part even though the consenses is it was a quiet day. I'd like to see all you guys post a report even though you may have not made any contacts. Sometimes it is good to know what we don't hear that can be important as what we hear. If we didn't hear any English langauge spoken but did Spanish, etc. then we know what the conditions favored, for today.

We should try this again because one test will not indicate much and as the weather cools down communicating might improve. We need to try a SSB and 2m simplex test. Planning now will help get more people involved and result in a better time.

    Thanks all.
