We suffered our own mass-murder here in my state - Va. Tech. Of course there was Columbine. There have been others not as noteworthy that have either occurred or attempted in malls and in at least one church. Most recently there was the shooting at the bar where a patron returned and sprayed bullets into the building.

One major common thread between all of these events seems to be that they all occurred in gun free zones - in locations where policy, regulation, or law precluded law abiding citizens from legally being armed themselves. There they are, part of a large crowd in the confines of a physically restricted area, and unarmed. Furthermore, the venue is such that the thought of being murdered never enters anyone's mind!

I read somewhere that concealed carry is not legal in Colorado. I'm sure one of you can correct that notion if I am in error. But if its accurate, I think that the state has some responsibility here. If its was simply a corporate policy of the theater, then that corporation has some responsibility for the safety of its patrons. Same goes for those businesses who put the "No Firearms" signs on their entry doors. Having the right to protect and defend yourself, but being denied the means to do so is the same as not having the right to defend yourself... or your family... or the person sitting in the theater seat in front of you. People are herded into these "kill zones", and when some crazy acts its the people's rights that are herded into these zones that the media screams for to be taken away! Thats crazy as well.

The dead are dead, and nothing can be done for them. I pray for the surviving families and those wounded. I also pray for my country. The wolves have long been at the door and this is fresh encouragement for them.
