    Smile Animal Crackers

Going through Wally world last Fri. I stumbled across 1 lb sacks of Staiffer's Animal Crackers for $1.48. I love Animal Crackers! The original kind not the ones with 'icing' on them. I check the exp. date ( as I always do) and found they were good in their original pkg for 9 months after packing at the factory. I bought 2. One to eat and to vac pack in 1/2 gal jar.

They are low moisture, low fat and not very sweet, but I love them. I'll leave them a year and half (twice the pkg time) and see how they hold up.
    Has anyone else stored any?
I can still see the boxes they came in when I was a kid. Memories.............

I have never kept any for any length of time. We were going to put some away to see how they would hold up…but ended up eating them. (They are so good) My dad used to get my sister and I a box just about every time he went to the store. (Those were the days)

We often end up eating product that we put away…I guess we will need to develop our will power. LOL

I don’t know about animal crackers but Oreos have an incredibly long shelf life I have had some in some FEMA surplus MRE'S that were over 4 years old and tasted fine . Also my wife is Asian so we shop at the Asians food store and in there they have canned tins of cookies and crackers that have a best by date of over a year and my wife said that the crackers are good forever if kept sealed . They remind me of the crackers in the MRE'S . The cookies are assorted kinds and some are pretty good . They have them at most of the Asian markets we have been to but you often have to look hard to find them as they are not always in the same location in the stores .

Since they are only shaped like animals, I would say yes, as long as thet kept their eyes closed. ;-)
