    Default talk about groups

Robie asked about how many of us are in a group and how to form one.

I consider myself a solo prepper because of the distance between me and the two groups that I quasi belong to.
I attend their meetings, and if possible will head to the closest one when shtf, but both are a good ways away, so I still am looking for one close to home.

I found these groups online, and attended a few meetings to see who they were. www.meetup.com is the host for 2 in my area, and american preppers network is another. there is also a "militia" within a 2 hour drive, but I havent looked at them because of the negative connotation with calling yourself a militia.

I actually joined 1 of these groups even though it is really too far for me to get to I think. They have good water, lots of food and good security. So if I can make it to them, that is where I will go. But I still prep like it will be just me and my family.

Anyone else please chime in about your groups.

(I know in the past RICH has mentioned his group, so please Rich tell us how your group got started, and advice for anyone setting one up.)

We do not have a group at this time, and I wonder how many relatives will show up on the door. We have not planned for any. I can tell you that.

It would be nice to have some like minded, PREPARED, people around to rely on if TSHTF. I too would be interested to see how others got started.

Our group is primarily family. With varing degrees of commitment. Got an excellent group of skill sets to draw on on ie 2 ER trama nurses, 2 EMTs etc. Up to now BOL is our farm / hunting land. Good water, Ag equipment and a reasonably securable location. Approx 20 people including little ones. Mainly we try to appear to be a hunting club with no tolerence for tresspassers. I really wish everyone was more committed to prepping it would make things easier.

We do not belong to any groups at this time…

My Thanks to Myakka62 for picking up where I left off and getting an new thread started.
I dont expect there to be very many people who do belong to a group/colony, just more solo and families.

A good guid, but by no means a bible of how to's is James Wralings fiction book "Patriots". Most of us have read that book and understand that they had plenty of time to work out details and weed out the problem people from thier lives. I found it odd that just about everyone they talked to was willing to join and was interested in prepping/survival right from the start. In real life, you'll be lucky to find one in a hundred that will have the same ideas/preps/survival mindset as you do.

Who would be in your group? what is the standards for memebership? How often would you meet up? What would be the trigger that would cause the group/colony to bug out and get to business? Do you have an "SOP" and a "TO&E"? (Sandard operations proceadures, and Table of Organization & Equipment)
A security plan? Defence? OPSEC? Comunications? within the group and the outside world? dress/uniform codes?

The devil is in the details and thats no lie!! When the SHTF, you (or someone in your group/colony) just went from buck private to commanding general on the spot! You or They need to have that mindset befor s*it happens.

So if your are a solo, family unit or part of a group/colony, say so. What are your plans ect...ect...?
