Went to Wally world this weekend to see what they had to spice up the rice. Tried the Zatarains Dirty Rice, and Red Beans an Rice. Both were excellent. These are the rice version of Hamburger Helper, but if you just want to spice up your rice these would work.

I picked up a few other powdered mixes i.e. taco flavoring, beef gravy. I will see how these work with plain rice. ChefSimms probably has some great ideas.
