    Default Bug Out Land

I just fell into a sweet deal. We signed a 2yr lease on a old farm house on over 800ac of land with 2 year round streams with good fishing. Plenty of land to grow a garden, well water with aux. hand pump. House has 4br, 1.5 bathrooms, living room with wood heating stove, kitchen, mud room, porch, old smoke house, a old smithy shed(the anvil must weight over 300lbs and the forge needs work). The big barn is off limits as it is in bad shape and the land lord is afraid it might collapse. But the utility shed is usable with a little work.

Can have chickens, goats, rabbits and a couple of cows but they have to be keep corralled. As the big fields r leased to a farm for hay. Plenty of wood to get fire wood and hunt as the property is posted. So next month we move out to the farm. Now I will have to buy a tiller and wheel barrel. The tenet that was living their for the last 5ys is moving to a job up north and sold me his used lawn tractor. He had a garden started and is turning over to us. We can now leave this small city and feel a whole lot safer. Almost forgot the house is in the middle of the farm and the only house on the road. It sets back over a half mile from a county road. The house was built in 1909 but the pluming and wiring have been updated to modern standers.

We are so syked over this move. Now if the SHTF we will feel better and our group will have more room.

Congradulations on your new place. hope all works out well. I must say, I am on the outskirts of the city but it is slowly moving our way. may think about this myself. not enough privacy here anymore.

For us, the true country areas are drying up with urban sprawl. Most folks dont realize that Florida was pioneered by cowboys. We have been the #1 or #2 provider of beef cattle in the country since the 1890's. Everyone thinks of beaches but what Florida mostly is (or was) is cattle country, ranches and farms. Atleast that is how it was. Now urban sprawl is everywhere. I think my families only chance of backwoods living will be moving north.

It will take prayer and possibly a shotgun to convince my wife to leave Florida, but I am hoping. I would love to get her into Georgia, Tennessee or South Carolina. (OK Buggy, maybe Alabama....)

sounds like you found a good deal, my house was also built in 1909, what is cool about these old places in the history in them.
when we replaced some windows I found some pennies that were from 1909...
