    Default Tropical Storm Debbie-Prepping

In response to Diesel's message, I really looked hard at my supplies today because of Tropical Storm Debbie. Added more canned goods, cleaning products, bought more bottled water, batteries and 10 more gallons of no ethanol gas in some containers just because I had the empty containers. As Scarlet would say" Tomorrow is another Day"

I went to Mom's. She and Pop are up north at the cabin. So I had to go batton down their place and while I was there, I picked up my dutch oven. Mom said I could have it a while back, but I procrastinate going after it. I have to go back today, and plan on looking for the little generator I have stored there. We have several accross the street at work, but I need to do maintanence on mine just in case.

    Be safe.

I'd love to have a first-hand account of what really happened during Katrina. We read so much that turns out to be crap...

Just saw the news on huricane debbie this afternoon. Florida got it bad. Looks like lots of flooding. don't look like it's over yet. We may get some rain out of it and maybe wind but to early to tell yet here in VA. Be safe mykaaka. Looks nasty there in florida. Will keep you all in my prayers that you will all be ok.

It seems a rain event for us. We are pretty south.

It looks like RICHFL really got hammered with a river running through his front yard. You guys are all in our prayers. It begs the question. How do you prepare when you are in a low-lying area, and you get flooded so quickly? Do you keep supplies up high in second story vs. basement? Do you know the topography, so you can get to higher ground? Where do you go? Do you use a boat?

I have personally survived a 500 year flood with no consequences, and very little inconvenience, so that really isn't part of my plan.
