I don't know of any special ops personnel (past or present) working for contractors or not, that doesn't take their oath to this country as seriously as I do. Foreign soldiers acting against our citizens I'll believe our own Vets. Bull$hit!!

Jez, this is not the sort of information welcomed here although I personally appreciate the info.

An acquaintance of mine who was at the time involved, hinted to me a couple of years back, that such things were in development.

It would require some in depth research and more than a few involved contacts to be able to provide any sort of compelling details but I'm too lazy and it just wouldn't really matter in the long run

Some folks here are poo-pooing this and this is fine, to each there own.

Someone interjected that those who are former American military are dedicated patriots .... maybe but these guys are mercenaries, they have no loyalties to anyone other than those holding the purse strings.

Another here is ok with their existence for "emergencies" to provide security. This is one of the functions of our police, our guard units and other established emergency response entities. There is no justification for the existence of a mercenary force of any size inside CONUS.

Folks, this is just another development that is an indicator of things coming our way just as with entities such as NORTHCOM .... more dots to connect for those keeping count.

Recently the "Blackwater" group was in the news for giving weapons (yep- I used that word) to Foreigners. They said it was a CIA operative. Now they have to produce the documents to prove it... and it is not looking too good... http://hamptonroads.com/2012/06/exbl...-weapons-trial.
Just the same, much like the FEMA Camps getting a billion dollars worth of freeze dried foods to stock them under a Gov't contract in the event of a terrorist attack (?) last year; http://www.examiner.com/article/terr...ehydrated-food
Much of what takes place that we do not know about has multiple logic behind it. However, the same holds true that much of what they say it is for can be switched and that training can be used for another reason whenever they deem it necessary. That is to say that training reason/logic, can and does, have multiple tiers of uses. While it is good to be aware, it is good to keep an open mind about such things, and not buy into one theory because that too can change.

One way to check if Canadian troops are training here in the US is to check with the DOD and their Department that tracks all foreign troops undergoing training in the US. Yes they have such a department. No foreign troops can receive training unless the State Department and DOD agree to it. Even if a Private contractor is doing the training.

O.W., Subtle, I thought about what you said for awhile and thought I should expand on my previous comments. Granted, contractors are mercenaries and will 99% of the time do whatever their boss says. I do know Vets from the Special Ops community that are currently working as contractors, mostly doing what they did for our military in foreign countries, for far more money than a GI's salary. And, I'll grant you that in any group there will always be a few exceptions to the rule. On the whole though, the American special operations community, (Special Forces, SEALs, PJ's, Rangers, Marine Recon, etc.) are not the Rambos and cowboys that hollywood makes them out to be. It requires certain "traits" that the military seeks out and cultivates to make these soldiers and patriotism is one of those traits. I believe anything is possible in this old world as these are the men who truely understand and know how to conduct warfare, but my faith and trust in their patriotism has never yet been given a reason for doubt. Until they do, I call them brother.

I believe a contractor requesting these men to use lethal force on U.S. citizens may be surprised at the speed and lethality of their response. If anything, I would think the powers that be, would want these men out of the country and unable to come home when needed.

How would the dynamics of loyalty and the use of deadly force change if the mercs were uniformed as law enforcement personnel?

As a dumb-ass civillian I hold, for some unconscious reason, higher respect for the military than for law enforcement. It is not a logical condition, because every interaction with law enforcement I have had has been professional, courteous, and well, justified; and then only for minor traffic violations.

Perhaps I have been influenced by the news reports of police misstakes and botched raids (We just had a botched raid in our community this week; wrong address). Or the ham handed way the ATF botched the takedown in Waco, TX, which lead to a 50+ day standoff and finally a massacre of women and children.

I also realize the military has made misstakes. They just have a much better budget for PR, so their misstakes get a better spin.

I guess I am asking is this, is there the same perceived dedication to the oath among law enforcement elites as there is among the military elites?
