    Default No finger strength!! Help

My husband is working with me on learning how to break down all our guns because I feel I need to know all aspects of these not just how to shoot them. Tried to start with a handgun breakdown. Starting off by ejecting the empty magazine. I can barely do it the way you are "supposed" to. We have discovered that my finger strength is ridiculously weak if not considered nonexistent. How can you build strength in your finger so I can get my magazines out!! Husband says there is something that you can hold in your hand and it is springs you work with each finger. Is this the best way and anyone know what it's called/were to get one? I feel like a liability!!

Hi, hope this helps. All you need is a very soft rubber ball and practice squeezing and releasing, slowly and softly at first. Repetition is the goal, over and over and over again. You can do it while watching T.V,listening to music etc etc. The softer the ball the better. No tennis balls, too hard.

You can work for months to build up "finger stregth", and while doing that you are helpless, correct?

Use the strength of your mind. Work around the problem and use anything available to accomplish the task.

Most women have your problem to some extent and the fellas that recommend an autopistol for women have never taught very many women how to shoot! Working the levers, buttons and racking the slide present real problems.

Learn to use your sorroundings to your advantage. The edge of a counter, table top or corner of a wall offers a solid surface against which to press the pistol and operate the controls. Pressing the mag release button against a cabinet corner with your weight against it will eject the magazine. Hooking the front of the slide against the edge and leaning against it will rack the slide using your body weight.

Most of the other controls can be operated using both hands with the pistol braced against some solid object.

My own wife could operate all my firearms using these methods. I still reworked revolvers to meet her needs and those were her prefered firearms. She tended to ignore the autopistols unless I was available to do the heavy work and hand them to her for the trigger pull operation.

I always anticipated that the only way she would use an autopistol in a crisis was to take it from my cold dead hands after her S&W revolver ran dry.
