I will say that watching an animal needlessly slaughtered to prove a point .... bothers me. There are lots of folks out there that love killing for the sake of killing ....

However, reading the first few comments following the vid somewhat reassures me that there may still be an inkling of decency in our species.

I would guess that it was not going to be harvested for food. Who knows though, I know a guy who hunts them and makes sausage out of them!

Wild Oinks Are very tasty but you do have to hit them right to put them down quickly. Head shot or a round that isnt going to frag. immediately on impact. Wild hogs have a very thick shield of cartilage in the front and shoulders. Younger ones havent grown the thick cartilage as the older ones. Also depends on the species of wild hog. Domestic hogs that got out are a diff. story. The Russian and the European hogs and crossbreeds are the nasty pissed off critters with all the built in armor. My Uncle finds buckshot and 22's stuck in the cartilage layer all the time when he dresses out the hogs.

Don't see where this "settles" any debate.
That pig would've drop like a rock if hit in the right spot.
I think all this showed was someone who didn't put his first shot with the High Powered rifle in the right spot.

A true "Hunter" would've put a second shot into him as soon as it was obvious that he wasn't down.

I agree completely. There are variables. Once back in the 80's , I shot a muley half way down a ravine. I watched it through my scope for a good five minutes. No movement whatsoever. I made my down the steep incline and because of space and drop-off, straddled the deer. Guess what happened next? Buggy took a ride. That sucker shot up and charged down hill with me tumbling along with it. I had to track it another half mile and slit its throat. I came out injury free, except for the two other guys who witnessed it and to this day refresh the story at every gathering!

Anyhow, your point is valid. However the boar could have gotten and charged the hunter, and his only recourse would be to draw his sidearm. *shrug* Not enough evidence to make a determination.

Also... I was just kidding about the .45 ACP. lol

The subtitle > "Gustine, CA - Wild boar shot from 200 yards with hp Rifle but survives, and charges. Shot with Colt Combat Elite .45 APC."

And charges? Not much of a charge.

As I mentioned, some folks enjoy the power.

Critically injured animal, inside a fenced pasture crazed with pain .... man (sic) in no real danger but just has the need to kill something.

I'm not tryin to be right brother, and I know what you were after .... let's not be overconfident in our abilities nor those as perceived of our weapons .... there are no hard, fast rules in stone.
