I agree with White Tiger. We are just one more animal species on the planet. When the SHTF we will be very poorly evolved to survive. We will have to deal with violence individually. No cops to call. No white knight riding in to save the day.

Not many studies done by foreign governments that I have access to. What info I can find are older studies completed by the CIA. It seems our agencies have quite varying viewpoints on what will happen internationally in a SHTF scenario. It's reported that most SHTF scenarios involving only economic, social or limited factors will have minimal impact on foreign countries. With economic scenarios having the most impact on our immediate neighbors.
The global SHTF scenarios have a quite different outcome. Scenarios involving pandemics, solar flare emp, thermonuclear war, etc. show that foreign countries will be as much, if not more so affected than we will be. Factors like medicine, medical facilities, weather, wind patterns, social factors (human interaction), agricultural factors, etc. influence the human death figures per country and per scenario. More advanced countries like europe, (more dependent of their governments) suffer greater losses than say China for non-pandemic scenarios.

In short. SHTF scenarios requiring advanced resources (medicine, hospitals, etc) favor the survival of advanced countries or very remote/isolated populations. Scenarios involving global catastrophies actually favor poor 3rd world countries that don't rely on modern technology for production of essential resources. Whoever happens to be on the dark side(unaffected side) of the planet during a solar flare EMP will have a slight military advantage. Most military equipment though is "hardened" off to EMP. This subject could go on for a long time and I'm quite sure I left the original thread awhile back, so I'll save more for another thread.

I did not read all the comments so someone might have posted something about this. Humans can't live without vitamin C, there health will deteriorate quickly without it and they will not have the energy to hunt all that much. These people that think they can just go to the mountains and hunt deer and live are a big threat because they will quickly find out they can't and come for your food. The people hunting for food will dwindle very fast, way before all the animals are gone and if they have not taken the time to teach themselves how to forage they will be SOL when SHTF.
