    The tax stamp is $200.

    The supressor is $500!

That's quite a bit to add to an $89 .22 rifle.

a 22 is a good idea however a suppressor no. if you want a quite rifle then get a nylon brand 22 this rifle is not made anymore but you can find a used one. the average sound of report on this rifle is less than a bb gun. you can also use 22 short rounds they have less report than any other round. these two options are preffered as a silent option by some of the snipers i know. also dont be fooled you can kill a deer at 100 yds with a 22 if you practice and learn the anatomy of the game you will hunt.

I have an old "original" Charter Arms AR7 which is actually better built than the ones Henry puts out today. It is a nice "survival gun", not much good beyond that. It fouls out fast and is not very accurate and it is difficult to clean. Henry does make a very fine lever action .22 though, and personally I would take a lever or bolt action over any semi-auto. You have several advantages with a lever or bolt action, one is that you are more apt to take a careful aim. Second, you have more hitting power as an auto takes energy away from the bullet in ejecting the shell. Third, you can shoot shorts (subsonic), longs, or long rifle, with an auto you can only shoot one size (whatever it was designed to shoot). Fourth, you will not end up wasting ammo on senseless shooting. Fifth, and probably most important is the action of a lever or bolt gun rarely ever "needs" cleaning as the shell remains firmly in place in the barrel during firing and does not foul the action. As for suppressors, like the guys above stated they are very illegal without a class 3 weapons permit and an up to date stamp on each one. Very expensive to have and not worth it unless you plan on working as an assassin or something. If you want a cheap auto .22 that works great the Ruger 10-22 is tough to beat, and it is now available in a take down model for a higher price. My favorite take down .22 of all time though is the "Remington model 241 speedmaster" and it is available (used) in short, long, and long rifle with long rifle being the most common. Great little gun, best .22 auto I have ever owned. For hunting though I would choose the Henry .22 lever gun. With a quality rifle and a quality hunting knife and sharpening stone, you can survive just about anything.

I agree with the 10/22 Rugar. Also a bb/pellet gun but in my BOB its usually snarewire and a wristrocket with the magnum bands. If I have to run Ill try to grab a firearm but its not a part of the bag as it is from day to day behind the seat. As far as a silencer goes, its not important to me one way or another.

I have a ruger 10/22 with my bag. It is a great .22 and very useful for small game. I don't think you really need a silencer.

The Ruger 1022 is IMHO the finest semiauto 22 ever made. But you may be better of with a lever, bolt, pump or single action as you have the option to fire shorts, longs, long rifles and bird shot. There also used to be someone who made a single shot 410 pistol. I can,t be sure but I think it was called the Commanche. I am going to look it up when I log off here. I think that may be my next purchase!

I carry a Judge public defender with me in my bug out bag, 410 shoot gun shells, 45 long colt, sometimes a GP 100 357…as far as a rifle it is usually a Marlin 22 Papoose (it is a break down rifle)
Or If I am on the 4 wheeler I will bring my Marlin 30-30

KyleJS, Agree with everybody else, the 22 is always a great idea. But, why do you really want the suppressor for? Not really needed for hunting in a SHTF situation. I have purposes for suppressors, but most arn't dealing with survival hunting. Is it really worth the paperwork and $$$ headache to have a legal suppressor?
