Well, here I am...your First Aid forum MOD.

I know this is an important topic for survival and everyday life. If you have good resources, or some experience to draw upon...share your marbles.

I am a former National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, Intermediate - with ACLS, HAZMAT-FR, and Field Tech III, certifications.

Again, first aid knowledge should be acquired and applied for everyday life as well as survival preparation...don't forget to practice, when you can, and constantly train your mind, and seek out new knowledge and applications.

Let's keep the forum going strong with good discussion, some opinion, and a little fun every now and then....remember: Humor really is the best medicine!

I'll probably start with merging a few of the threads that are older,or have similar subjects, just to do a little housekeeping and get it less chaotic.

If you see a thread already started that has the same subject matter you're interested in...consider posting in an existing thread, rather than "rubber stamping" topics. But hey, it's a free country (for now)...if you think you have a new spin and gotta get it out, put it out.

I would also like to open this thread to any member who has training or certification in first aid, emergency medicine, health care, etc....

List your certs, degrees, experience, etc. -and what you would like to add to your medical skill set.

This thread looks a bit bleak Big Saw. As far as I am concerned this is one of the most important things that any survivalist should know. I have just basic training in first aid and cpr. I have extinsive knowledge at vetenary practices and many times this carries over to working on people. My wife was a peramedic on an ambulance for a time and makes up for a bunch of knowledge I do not have.

I think every person here should at the very least get their first aid /CPR training. Come on guys what do you have?

OK First off I have been retired for a while now so all of my certs are exp. but I still have the skills! I was a South Carolina cert Paramedic with ACLS inst. PALS inst. Extrication inst. CPR inst.and first responder inst!..........So if you have any questions please feel free to ask! oh yea I worked full time in EMS for 15 years!

I've got my basic first aid, adult child infant cpr, aed, oxygen, and also have my wilderness first aid certification and am thinking about an emt class or two if i can work it into my current course load. i'm also a lifeguard, and have sowed(sp?) myself up on a regular basis when it was required, and its worked out pretty well so far. i also doctor on the family horses and critters in general, although the usefulness of this to a survival situation when you arent mounted or possessed of livestock is probably negligible.

Wow...it's about time some of you guys responded....thanks for your posts, and it's good to know that me and cprdummy aren't the only guys interested or trained....

BTW...IMHO, animal medics are superior to EMs, in that they have greater knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and homeopathy on average, than most medics. The only advantage that an EM has is superior familiarity w/the human PX.

I'm currently taking an online study of veterinary medicine, not to practice, but to really broaden my ability to treat all animals....after all, what are we?

Medic here.... I have ACLS, BTLS, PALS, CONTOMS and 11 years as a certified Paramedic. Not to mention hazmat tech, advanced firefighter certificate and intermediate LEO.

O-kay Big Saw, I've been holding back on this one because its a burn out subject for me. I have been in the med field about 30 years now and as a Respiratory Therapist I work all over the hospital doing lots of things such as keeping people alive with respirators and working in the ER with chest tubes and trach tube insertion. A Respiratory has a lot do with anesthesia and can sleep people.. List your questions and needs as there are many field substitutes that work. Amputation to Ether anesthesia and yes treating a gunshot wound (if treatable). My thread on basics covered some stuff for babies and children nutrician and some medicine. Yall ask away or tell me which subjects to write about. PHR

I completely understand the burn out...I haven't practiced anything beyond field medicine in years.....and that only because it's a requirement for the PC firm I part-time for....but, for lack of a better substitute, we with the experience and credentials are "the experts" that our XC community will rely upon when they need pertinent info.....we're also likely to be the experts, should TSHTF, so burn out, or no, we need to start firing those old synapses, too...
