For the negotiable price of $399,000, you can also buy an Atlas F missile base in central Kansas on eBay. “Negotiable” is not to say owner Jeff Flaningam will sell at clearance-rack prices. There are currently four declined offers on the listing, but Flaningam indicated he may consider a partial trade of a yacht plus cash.

Prices are slashed. Must be a reason.

By the way what do you think is going to happen? I think were going to see a total collapse of our monetary system, because we are too dependent on thwe world market!!
I am curious, What did it cost to have it delivered (how far) and did you need a crane to off load or did they skid off load? Did you bury, or store above grade?

been giving a lot of thought to a BOL l8tly, and come to the conclusion that I need to put some investment into updating the kitchen & baths of my primary residence if I want any hope of getting out from this mortgage and walking away with MIP (money in pocket). You see, though I haven't sold the spousal unit (yet) on the idea of trading in the traditional homestead for a permanent residence in a good BOL, thereby becomming an excellent BIL, she's 100% with the upgrades to maintain market value. My thinking is, owning the real estate and BUILDING a disaster resistant residence AFTER you move there permanently, living out of an RV trailer in the interim, is THE way to go. Preferable to purchasing a conex, converting it, then wondering WHERE to plant it. Therefore, horse before the cart thinking mandates forget about conex, put real estate shopping on the warming burner, and focus on resale value of current residence!

I have bought good condition shipping containers for 1-3k depending whether or not you want a 20' as opposed to a 40'. The good thing about reducing trade with China is that there should be a lot of shipping containers on the market.

Around here the cost of shipping containers has doubled in the last year. The guy who sells them locally said this is because "Everyone is wanting a bunker of some kind!"

see, like the stock market, sometimes the best strategy is swimming against the popular flow to find the best deals and the best margin! I have totally nixed conex solutions in favor of moving toward self sufficient (off the land) living. lead time on that strategy, though, is long because most peeps are firmly entrenched in surburban lifestyles, mortgages, and weekly jaunts to the grocery + daily jaunts to the quick stop!

I just caught my first episode of doomsday bunkers yesterday - loved the show - I also thought his bunkers were decently priced (obv not as cheap as a used storage container)
