Default Items needed for AR use long term

Make sure to include cleaning supplies and an AR replacement parts kit in your kits. Could mean the difference between a boat anchor and survival.

Absolutely! I have an Otis universal cleaning kit so I can take care of multiple calibers. I also like those pocket fishing boxes for carrying all the spare springs, pins, screws etc for the guns.

I get a lot of my AR lower parts from Cheaperthandirt. Prices are good, and shipping is lightning fast! I just ordered a lower parts kit, grip and Ambi sling adapter for a build that I'm working on. Ordered Saturday... Scheduled to arrive today.
They have a "Repair kit" for $29.97 that has just about every replacement part you might need.

Here's a link to their lower parts section:

Thanks so much I will check them out . I use to buy quit a lot form cheaper than dirt but over the past year or so the shippong has gotten so high . The last order I tried to place was for $38. and the shipping was $32. I cancled the order and it was not a heavy item it was 2 fanny packs . I have been finding better deals from Sportsmansguide.com and the shipping is reasonable .

Sure thing. Check out 68forums.com under Industry Partners. Each seller listed has a link, and you can check out the buzz about them under General - Accessories to find out the best prices, cust service, etc.

another good source of parts is a place called BravoCompanyUSA. The owner is fanatical about quality control and has been known to put together "care packages" for troops overseas. For the AR15 people, one of the first things you should include in the kit (and replacing on your carrier assembly if you haven't done so already) is the upgraded extraction kit that replaces the stock spring with a stronger one (black), for increased retention on the extractor claw. Another good item is a good bottle of lube. Not cleaning liquid, but lubrication fluid. Preferences are very wide ranging on this topic but my preference is the SLiP 2000 EWL.
