Default How many magazines are enough

Just wanted to find out some peoples thoughts on how many pistol magazines are enough? I have 30 mags for my primary battle rifle but am wondering how many I should stock up on for my pistols. A lot of my guns can share the same magazines, part of the reason why I bought them. Thanks in advance for your guys time and answers.

how many rounds do you carry on you?

how many rounds do you keep at home for defense?

It depends on you. My experience in war is that people use a pistol so they can get to their rifle which has longer range and is so much more accurate.

Me I carry one up and 2 extra I carry - I have a total of 6 more in the truck and have 5 more at home so if I cannot get to the truck I have 7 at any one time Total on hand 15.

I have at last count 40 mags for my M4, and an average of 25 for my handguns. I carry one in the well and 2 extra 17 round mags with my daily carry.

As far as whats enough mags?? I'll let ya know when I get there.

Buy as you can afford.....If I find a deal.....I buy more....it can never hurt.

I have at last count around 40+ for my Glock 17....that is inclusive of some Glock 18 mags.

I keep about 50 loaded for my ARs.

Magazines are going to be a great barter item, so I doubt you can have to many. But I hope not to have problems within pistol range I'd rather have a lot more seperation. But to answer I have 20-30 1911 mags. and a 50 call can full of sig and glock mags " 1 can for each" plus ruger 22 lr mags etc.

Normally at the end of each deployment I buy my self a post deployment present, which is always a new gun but this time I am thinking about taking that money I would spend on a gun and investing it in magazines and what not. I mean I could always use another gun but as it stands now I have over 50 so I think I would be better off with magazines and what not.

If 50 make you happy great, it's your money. If 1 makes you happy......get a few more

Personally, I have 8 for my main pistol. A lot less than some people here, but way more than most shooters that only have the 1 or 2 that came with their gun. I'm satisfied with 8, if I was ever using my pistol enough to really need that many, then I've got a serious problem. Probably get shot and die if I was in that many gunfights anyway.

Note: I do like having additional dedicated range mags for practice. And stocking extra springs might be a cheap way to extend the life of your heavy use mags.

Like ammo, there is never enough magazines...but in reality...I have 15 each. I don't expect a long stand off in the near future...hopefully.

This an area I have just recently begun to stock up on. I definitely need more mags for my carry gun (I currently have 3) and more for the rest, long-guns and pistols. I do not have many firearms, but those I do have I want "well-provisioned."
