Default Death and disposal of a body....post TEOTWAWKI....

This was brought up on another site....and it bears some valid discussion.

If a loved one were to pass....have you given much thought to how you would handle the body?

    Common to clean....wrap (linen)....and bury.

    Not to sound insensitive....but soap....sheet....shovel.

You can do a fire....but it takes a lot of wood....and still doesn't remove the bones.....depending on the soil around your retreat....this may be necessary....then bury bones shallow.....a body buried shallow is begging for critters.

Even deep....you may want to cover fill with large rocks....for the critter thing....assume you will be not using a casket.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

Here in the delta we have really deep top soil. Still a sombering thing to consider. I've dug some deep holes and it's Hard! Work. If it's me that gets buried I hope the guys have presents of mind to keep my boots, might need them down the line

I have bears in the yard most days, they will eat about anything. Good to recycle. That is my first choice for my carcass.

Biggest chore then is to make sure that you are done with it before they get a hold of it.....

It doesn\'t take much wood to burn a body. You need the right type and size, as well as quantity of wood. It has to be arranged in certain way. Once a certain temperature is reached the oils and fat that is in the body will burn. At the same time, a bed of coals sufficient in height and area will form to continue the process until a black sheet of carbon is left on the soil that was not crystalized by heat.

I love the direction things go in here, but if I get off topic I need you guys to keep me straight.

I have no fear of death. It takes a lot to be a husband and a father, and to be the master of all your animals. I do worry about the ones who depend on me. My wife is tough, my daughter is tougher, and these two dobermans will outlive me for sure. I think I have done a good job at preparing them all for when I am gone, but I know that I did my absolute best. I am ready to die any second, and I know whats on the other side. My wife knows how to get rid of me per my wishes and knows exactly how to do it, and then she knows to put anything that is left in the garden compost so that I can continue to take care of her. Call it morbid, call it crazy, call it what you will. It is my wish.
