Default Big City Workplace Go Bag - Opinions Wanted

I decided to have something at the office in case of an emergency that I could add to later instead of waiting around till I made the perfect bag. I tried to get together a bunch of items that I had laying around to make an impromptu workplace Go Bag.

In my particular case I will need to have enough in my bag to go about 6 – 8 miles on foot through a large variety of neighborhoods towards my home where I can hunker down or decide if I need to keep moving to get out of the city. I previously walked from work to my house and it took about three hours. A lot of the time was spent avoiding traffic, bicyclists and waiting on street lights. In case of an emergency there will be flocks of people that will slow down my pace and potentially make the walk more interesting. I can't carry any concealed weapons where I live in NY because of the local laws. My grim demeanor and several years of martial arts training is all that I will have going for me.

Here are the contents of my kit. Any suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    1. Backup glasses/contacts
    2. Two 16 oz bottles of water, not pictured

    13. Small first aid kit containing eye drops, neosporin spray (not pictured), band aids, breathe right strips, Benadryl, antihistamine, Advil and Alka Seltzer, Six Wet Ones face wipes. The Advil is in the Aleve bottle.
    14. One Therma Care Heat Wrap for my aching back
    15. Tissues
    16. Chapstick
    17. Off Bug Spray
    18. Cheap swiss army knife replica

The one thing I always suggest to those looking for an URBAN or City kit of any type is the addition of a silcock key, the 4 way key will let you obtain water form the outside of almost any commercial building

Most hardware stores carry it, you'll need to prob ask where it is and they may not know what you're talking about it. Worst case order it online

Also don't see any sort of fire starter mentioned urban or not you still need it

Diesel thanks for the suggestion. I found one on Amazon for $5. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000DZKYVC. I have two books of matches in the kit. They are not waterproof but they will be sitting in a zip loc bag just in case.

Good kit so far. You've made me think over my own urban kit again. Possible additions:
-Prescription Sunglasses or clip on lenses
-Good pair of shoes/boots unless you would be happy walking in your work pair.
    -Pepper spray if legal
    -Diarrhea Meds
-Larger bandages. Think small scale trauma kit to slow heavy bleeding. Bandaids are handy, but won't save a life. (You'll find a ton of info in the First Aid Section here)
-Matches fail when they get wet. Lighters fail in freezing rain and sleet. A box of matches and a lighter is a good way to hedge your bets.

You've done a good job of keeping it light and inconspicuous.

I have a similar operating environment living outside of Cleveland, Ohio and designed an urban bail out bag with the same thought of being able to make it back home on foot and sheltering overnight if necessary. I planned around a man made or natural disaster with 2 primary concerns, having personal protection from debris, smoke & dust and the other being able to deal with a small scale entrapment. Diesel made a great point about a silcock key and I use my SOG PowerLock needle nose pliers to open commercial silcock valves.

    Nice kit so far.
Never ever ever thought of the sillcock key!!! Thanks Diesel. I learned something today.
I may have missed it, but I would throw some 550 para-cord in there. It's uses are endless... If you have to hole up some where lacking security, it can be used to hold closed and unlockable door, or a perimeter alarm with some cans or bottles, not to mention added gear retention or repairs, just to name a few.

I work in a city as well, though Greensboro, NC is nowhere close to your NY situation. One of my first concerns was proper footgear. My work/dress shoes won't cut it for a hike home, so I keep a spare pair of boots ready to go. Don't know if you're in the same boat, but thought I'd mention it.
The 12ga.... It's not just for rabbits anymore.

Thanks for the input everyone. I wear boots to work everyday that are properly worn in so at least I do not have to worry about footwear. I'm also going to add a super bright flashlight that I can also double as a Kubotan. That's about as close as I can get to carrying a weapon. I'm also going to add a Celox bandage and some packages of Celox powder, Imodium AD, lighter, 4 five hour energy drinks, rain jacket/pants, a proper multi tool, some rope, duct tape, a silcock key and folded paper towels instead of tissues.
