Default Urban Survival with a Couch

Ok here is the situation you enter a small town sometime after the shtf. You are hunting for usefull items. You see an old couch and just pass it by. Don't! Here is why.
We had a yard sale this weekend and when it was over there was an old couch left that no one wanted not even for free. Well I hate to take things to the dump and see them go into the land fill, so I took it in my shop to make it into something else. While I was removing the covering of the couch I started to see things that could be used for survival. Here is what I found, a whole pile of cotton batting that work really well for tinder if you pull it apart, two large pieces of foam that could insulate you from the ground, some wood boards that are oak and could be used for various things, and if you cut the covering off in big pieces you could use it to pack all of the usefull items in and then reuse it later for tinder or torch making.
Sometimes you just have to use your imagination and you can find new uses for so many things that end up in our landfills. The couch frame will be made into a platform to lay on on my patio for watching the sky at night. And there is enough extra wood to also make a small side table to sit next to it. Will post pictures of the finished product upon completion, in case anyone is interested.

Excellent post, excellent ideas! In my opinion, this kind of thinking will save MANY urban survivalists lives.

Do be careful of the stuffing, make sure it's not got any artificial fibers, you could poison yourself.
