Colorado requires a CCP to carry concealed and loaded. No CCP needed to carry unloaded in a pack or purse. Unloaded means no rounds in the wheel, or mag in the frame, and nothing in the chamber. CCP does not apply to long guns, only pistols. I have a CCP because if I feel like I need my revolver, I'll probably need it now, not after I load it. Just one less thing to worry about. I often wear a jacket or vest that covers my gun when I'm out and about, so making it legal is a good thing. And believe it or not, some people get their shorts in a knot if they think you have a gun on you when you're just casually chatting with them. Must be allergic to good gun oil. So keeping it covered just keeps things simpler.
Planning to be here through it all.............

Maric .... introduce us to your new friend.

While I think the notion for paying for permission to exercise my right to self defense is absurd, just for fun I'd like to hear one of the reasons not to have the required permit.

When I lived in a state that required a concealed weapons permit I had one. Now I live in a state that does not require it, I sometimes wish they did. I have always let an officer know if I had a weapon, and have never run into any problems. I am curious as to why having one is not a good idea. when you have one you know the laws and are a lot less likely to get in trouble.

I have to agree with you we got our carry permits (in tn. u can consealed or open), we carry ever were and at home. My brother is always on my case about. " I don't see how you can be that parinoid that you have to have gun all the time" He won't let me carry when I go over to visit.

It's my duty to protect my family and any body that is in my house or car from idiots that roam the streets. I live in complex already this year one of the appartments was broken into while the women was home. They hit and tied her up and ramsacked the appartment
And he can't see why I carry, the police will take care of, he tells me. Guess what they come into our appartment and they will go out DEAD!!!!
Be prepared; Some thing is going to happen

Who really has the time to dial and wait for the police? The bad guy is already armed and has the intent to harm you and your family. I am in agreement: we need to have the ability to protect ourselves and our family at a moments notice.

Here in the Peoples Republic of IL there is no CC law or permit process. While technically you can carry as long as the gun is unloaded and completely enclosed such as in a fanny pack, good luck with LE if approached. I do have a non-resident permit from another state that is recognized by the states bordering IL so as soon as I cross the state line I arm up.

Here in NH you can now carry concealed without a permit. I've had my CCP since I was in the service back in 86 and have kept my renewal up and will continue to do so. I have never been hassled by any LEO's, I was in a store once and one of the employees saw my handgun under my shirt when I bent over to look at something and called the cops on me. This happened before the new law when you had to have a CCP, the officer was extremely polite, asked to see my permit which I provided for him, he looked it over said thank you and apologized for the inconvenience. The store employee was pissed, and started to give the officer a hard time, he simply replied that I was well within my rights, had the necessary permit and was following the letter of the law wished her a good night and left. That was the only incident in over 25 years.

I would urge everyone to get their CCP whether your state requires it or not, especially now because of the newly passed law that requires all states to reciprocate with those that have a CCP issued by their state, the only catch being that you are required to know what the laws are concerning carrying conceal weapons in the state you are visiting or passing through. They can no longer arrest you for not having a permit issued by their state as long as you are complying to their CCW laws.

I have my Carry Permit and so does my wife and we always carry no matter were we go, even if we go visit with family we are armed. I have never been pulled over since I have had my permit, but I think here in Tennessee when they run you tag number it comes back to them if you have a legal carry permit or not, because our carry permit look almost like our DL's. As some one said earlier I ways have a coat or vest on when I carry, I just feel it's better that away.
