+ 1 on the combat gauze. Regular quick clot causes scar tissue which needs to be cleaned out before suturing.
+ 1 on the CAT tourniquet. I recommend carrying at least 2. They make 2 types, one with a plastic twist and one with a metal twist. Try to get the metal twist because you can use it multiple times. The plastic ones will probably need to be discarded after a single use, especially if used on a thigh as the muscles are extremely powerful.
+1 on the asherman chest seal. You can make your own out of plastic, tape, and vaseline. But if you buy them then they will be already sealed and sterile. Opinions differ on how to properly apply a chest seal so you'll need to research and decide for yourself which method you want to use.
I would also recommend a needle chest decompresion kit.
An Isreali bandage/pressure dressing. Not sure of the exact name. All mine have been removed from the outer packaging. This leaves a single clear plastic wrapper to get through while leaving the bandage sterile.
A nasal pharengile is nice to have as well.
Knowledge of how to give an IV as well as which type to use for which situation is a good idea. For example if you need to hydrate somebody you don't want to give a lactate ringer. (Spelling?)
I don't know if this has all been covered in previous posts. I did not read through.
I'll have to take a look at my kit to see what I'm forgetting.

    Oh, yeah!
Tampons and maxi pads. You can make Israeli bandages out of Ace bandages/Krulex and maxi pads. Assemble them using gloves then bag 'em so they remain sterile.
    Packets of SurgiLube.
Ibuprofen is good. NO ASPIRIN! Aspirin is a blood thinner.

Iron Mike is correct about the quick clot. I also used it in Afghanistan, it is well worth having in your med kit.

If anyone has heard of this please let me know. I heard that on the fish antibiotics that say you have the amoxicillin 500mg that the dosage for humans is different that the 500mg for fish. Has anyone else heard about this and if so do you know what the break down woould be for humans? I couldn't find anything on this, I was just told about it by someone that works in a hospital.

YES WE will all have problems getting prescription medicines after SHTF. What I can offer is the life saving antibiotic that will save your life from simple things like a cut on your hand. You need a good book made for doctors called "Doctors handbook of prescription drugs". It gives information on each type of drug currently used, it's effects and alternates for that particular drug. (Such as for allergies). The amount to give and for how long.

You then need to visit your local pet store that handles fish. They will have most antibiotic we use and sell them over the counter for fish. On the bottle will show the amount in each pill. So if you know what you are shopping for you can also go on line and it will be cheaper. Fish use the same antibiotic we do.

I just ordered a lot of the fish antibiotics from the address that rabunmon gave me. I liked the prices. I ordered amoxicillin, both 250 and 500's ampicillin 500, azithromycin 250, cipro 250 and doxycyeline 100mg which is great for skin infections. that was the one hubby took for breakouts on his face. I will wait a bit after they come in and order some more so we will have enough for all the family. I also have a PDR as well, but still need to find what my daughter will be able to take. I havn't checked with her yet, but she had been taken something for lymes disease that was not penicillin nor it's dirivatives of penicillin as she is allergic to these. I think she can take cipro which I have ordered. and z-pack, but there was something else. will get it straight and have her covered as well.
