SO anyway, that's the EDC list. Its designed for getting you back home by nightfall the same day. But, what if you're stranded out in the boonies somewhere where rescue doesn't find you by nightfall? #1, You MUST stay with the vehicle to enhance your survival and rescue chances. Your car itself will provide shelter, warmth (you can run to engine to keep the heater warm and the battery charged for about 15 to 20 mins per hour), protection from wildlife (keep the windows rolled up & doors locked), a source of info on weather (don't run the radio for more than 10 mins at a time or at all if the battery is starting to weaken), and an easier way to find you than if youre out in the woods on foot (most cars from 2002 and later have on-star or GPS systems that can find you as long as the fuse isn't burnt and the battery isn't completely dead ). Oh, and don't forget about the horn & lights to get the attention of a passing plane if youre hoping for rescue!

Some items I would add if I were going any further out than to work, such as a day trip or road trip are:

    Full tank of gas
MREs & water for 3 days for each passenger
Zippo or Bic lighter FULL OF FUEL
3 or 4 energy bars per passenger
Blanket & pillow for each passenger
    paracord
At least one 8 x 10 poly tarp

And lastly, be absolutely SURE you have a spare tire in good condition, FULLY inflated, and ALL the tools needed to change it in good working order! Sounds silly but it might surprise you how many readers here would be stranded if they were to get a flat tire!!!

My EDC kit is carried in the 5.11 PUSH pack (man purse) and contains:

    Ontario RAT 3 fixed blade
    Gerber Suspension multi-tool
Wide mouth stainless steel water bottle
    Frontier Pro water filter straw
Bic lighter and fero rod with a film canister full of vaseline soaked cotton balls
    50' of 550 cord
    Roll of Gorilla Tape
    Surefire light and spare batts
    Spare cell phone battery
    Compass
    Small notebook and pencil
    Military poncho
    Emergency blanket
    Bandana
FAK contains Quik-clot trauma kit, various bandaids, butterflies, gauze, tape, EMT shears, razor blade, and latex gloves

On my person is an XDS and 2 spare mags, Kershaw speed assist pocket knife, cell phone, wallet and key chain. The key chain itself is a small caribiner and besides a couple of keys has a double cobra knot of 10' of 550 cord, P38 can opener, small LED light and small fero rod.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I thought the same thing...handcuff key I got, but it ain't leaving my person in no pat-down...

BTW, my EDC is a full BoB...one of several packed exactly the same...one in each vehicle, three at home, one at the shop, one in the garage, one at each BoL, and one in a locker at the country club.

When I'm in casuals, I always have my Buck 110 folder, had it for 25 years. I also have 3 of these. One for each glove box in the cars and one I can put in my pocket or in an old "Daily Planner" zipper binder. It's small, I leave it on my seat as I drive. I can just drop it in a jacket pocket or a small pouch I can clip alongside my buck wen walking in the woods. Gave one to all my friends. BOB's are no good at home or are to big to carry every day. If I can make it home in an emergency, I might as well just take my full ALICE pack

I thhink you guys have talked me into putting my road kill kit back into the car even over my husband's protest. My purse, as mentioned here somewhere is set up like a hunters survival fanny pack in the event I ever have to walk home from some location.
    wallet of course/small calender/pen
    paracord 12ft.
    fish line
    fish hooks
    couple of sinkers
    small mirror
    water proof matches
    lighter
    metalic type blanket
    lint
    compass
    whistle
    granola bars
    hand/toe warmers
    large jack knife
    garbage bag
    tin foil
    dry onion soup pack
    9mm
    mini mag lite
    colapseable plastic cup
handcuffs and key......pisses me off when the court house won't let me bring my keys in because of the handcuff key being on the ring. Like I'm gona let some ass loose.
My purse itself could be used as a weapon to knock someone out with everything in it but is easy to cross shoulder carry. I like the idea of getting a one shoulder back carry purse but do they come with a holster built in?

I carry a maxpedition fat boy everyplace I go. This is an older picture so have added more supplies and changed out supplies. One thing I added that I love is a velcro Ready/Resupply patch that lets me know th status of the bag and supplies.

Carried mine for years in the old ALICE type first aid kit. Still have it. Maybe I'll break it out and take some pics.

Here's a couple pictures of my old one. A few things are missing now but I don't use it anymore.

Mountain lioness: Galco and Gun Tote'n Mama both make shoulder purses for concealed carry. Galco seems pretty pricey. Gun Tote'n Mama seems more reasonable.

Both are available through Midway USA
