    Glock 19

9mm is cheaper to practice with. My philosophy is simple, the more you practice, the better you'll be when the day comes. The cost of 9mm makes this philosophy possible.

I've carried a full size 1911, and I've carried a full size .40 and 9mm. For some reason I just prefer the compact frame.
I also carry two extra magazines, and a back up gun. (ruger LCP .380)

9mm (Glock 19) because I can shoot it fast and well and I have a lot of them onboard.

7.65mm or .32 ACP (Keltec P32) because the gun is easy to conceal in NPE's and I shoot it well and fast.

Both calibers are inexpensive and easy to find in my neck of the woods, which equals more practice. More practice equals being able to shoot well and fast.

Usually I carry the Sig Sauer P226 9mm but sometimes I carry my wife's Ruger P93 9mm with the compact frame. It is a little lighter and easier to draw.

We 'gun nuts' always give more detail than asked for...[:-)]. Para Ord P14 .45acp Super Hawg in a Tagua IWB holster. 'Scuse me while I whip this out...

If I'm not wearing enough clothes I can scale down to a 'normal' sized P14, then a Commander sized P14, the an S&W 640 .357, then a Ruger LCP .380acp...or more than one of the above of course. When I'm carrying my .45, I usually have the .380 as well.

    Sig P239 9MM
My job requires constant interaction with people and the sub size 239 makes concealment easy.
I carry because I don't know whether or not I'll need it today.
If I knew for sure I'd need it today, I'd either stay home or drive a tank!

CCW weapon...I carry an AMT DA0 .45 tucked about my bod somewhere for about 15 yrs now..and its been a very reliable shooter. Here in California..we are limited to 3 weapons on our CCWs..and of course the second is my original Series 70 in .45..and the third..is a S&W Mod 57 4" in .41 mag. It doesnt tuck away as cleanly as the .45s..so I generally use it as a ranch or field carry when Im not in the cities. It does well on coyotes and other varmints and its reputation on 2 legged varmints is also legendary. Actually..better than the .45 ACP with proper bullets and out to several hundred yards. So while its perhaps not a great city carry weapon..here in the desert..it works very well

And sOmeone worried about being flamed for a g17...

I carry a NAA 22 mag 5 shot single action revolver in a pocket holster. I have practiced draw and fire drills, it's small enough I always have it and forget I have it more than anything else.

If I'm going out of normal comfort zone (family/friends/farm or Walmart) I add an ultralight 357 mag. Titanium Taurus. This is a 5 round pistol but weighs next to nothing.

If for some reason I am going to a questionable area, or one that has been in the news recently, I put on a G17 or G22. I actually shoot the 40 cal better, go figure!

I have a great beavertail 45 but with limited ammo in the magazine I prefer the 9mm or 40 and get 10 extra rounds. I agree the .45 is bigger than a .40 but that .05 or .025 per side of the bullet - if I do my job, the thickness of a piece or two of copy paper is not going to make any difference to what I hit.
