camp water heater, why??? seems to be a waste of time to me. just heat up a pot on the fire.
i've camped my entire life and have never needed hot water unless i'm making ramen or coffee
hell, when the wife and i need hot water for a shower we just heat it up on the wood stove.

For a stationary base camp.....you need very little fire to heat a lot of water with that.
