Today I made a run to big lots and found some 5 minute grits at $1.69 for 5 lbs. Came home all excited and made some. FYI microwave grits suck!... So I dumped them and fixed some the oldfashioned way - on the stove top. I also picked up 2.5 lbs of asst. hard candy for 1.50 and 6 1/2 gallons of Old Orchard juice for 1.80. Shelf life for grits and juice 6 mo out. That will let me keep some of the longer shelf life in reserve.

Made a pot of seven bean hamburger soup. Then portioned it out into three Ziploc freezer bags.

Finished assembling the shelving units in the storage room. Put everything back on the shelves.

Took a quick gun cleaning lesson from my Coast Guard nephew. It's time to buy some new cleaning tools and supplies; things have improved greatly since the days of cleaning rods and pads.
