First of all, paragraphs are your friend.

Second, that's a lot of trenchcoats! Must be the new zombification uniform.

Third, assuming we made it out of the gas station, since our downed trenchie wasn't alone, I'd take the family home, set a watch, and use that old plastic and duct tape on all the air openings. The vials are scary.

Next action would be determined by local events.

Grab what I can and head for the hills until things blow over. From the vials I would assume this is a chemical or biological attack. Staying in town would be suicide.

When I reply to these scenarios I try to limit myself to a few minutes or less to think before I start typing. When it really happens you will have mere seconds if even that.

gas always stays 2/3 tank ,more than enogh to get out of dodge for me and the fam. The first thing is to get the he** out of there. for me that would consist of one phone call and the gas be hit I am out of there. to helll with the supplies at home have some at B.O.L. enough to make it for awhile. O atleast enough till thinks are settled down.

I agree, get the he** out of the area until I could figure out what happened and what the threat is to me and mine!
I would take the brief case with me and try to figure out what it is and if it is in anyway tradeable or useful!

    My solution is very simple:

Head home and watch and wait. I have enough supplies to last us for a couple months (food, water and even supplements). Ammo is already stocked up at a reasonable level and the worst case scenario, I lose power which is more of an irritation than anything else.

If this is a small town (Farming) then going home is NOT what you want to do. The local sheriff will have a list of who has weapons. The enemy will want this list and take action against those who could pose a threat to them. So if you have a small family 5 or less:

    1. Get out but stay off main roads since it is a good bet that the enemy will have people blocking them.
    Can you say RPG-7/9.

    2. Go to ground before light since the enemy will be observing people traveling on all roads by day light.

    3. Get Intell use your radios to get news of what is happening. Stay away from crowds, they are one of the things the enemy is going to watch for.

    4. Once you have Intell, make a group decision on what to do. If you are going to move on, do it at night if possible. Stay off roads and be prepared to travel cross country.

If you have a local farm and/or large extended family:

    1. Get home, start securing your property as you have set up. Move animals to outer pastures if possible keep them away from barns and house. That is where the enemy will concentrate their efforts.

    2. If you have prepped over a long time set you passive and active defense network in place. Including watch standing, road blockage, communication to outlying areas/farms.

    3. Move family/supplies to secure areas on farm away from house.

    4. Contact local area neighbors and pass the word fast so everyone can get ready for what is coming.

You do not give much information such is the US at war, what is the political situation, what is the local area like, etc.

Would never be in that situation.....if my Christmas shopping isn't done by the end of next month....I'll shoot myself.
