I have an 8x8" square of soft leather. It can be used to handle sharp or hot objects, a placemat for small parts, a makeshift knife sheath or handle. I also have an assortment of different size and styles of nails. They can be used as nails of course or turned into arrow and minispear heads, spikes on a throwing stick and booby traps, fishooks or snags etc etc etc.

All things can be useful and multiuse with a little imagination and proper motivation.
I carry an old leather belt less the buckle, I use it to hone a final edge on my knife. Stand on one end and use it like a barber's strap.

I tried that i usually cut the shit out of the old belt. So what i started doing is i use regular sharpening stone then go to a norton 6000 grit finishing stone then use a ceramic or old hologen bulb to hone the knife get so sharp feels dull but slide it light down your arm and the hair falls off before the knife gets near it.

I use the stone also but when doing the final honing, I keep the cutting edge up and hone downward to avoid the problem of cutting the belt. this just takes the final edge down.

Tie-wire is great for all kinds of stuff, from making shelters, weapons(attaching a spearhead), its uses are only limited by the persons imagination.
I steal the wifes new emery boards...the ones with the foam backing are flexable
and you can sharpen your knife with them..and give yourself a SHTF pedicure.lol

Baking soda! Use it for cleaning teeth (cavities or an abcessed tooth when things go bad is dangerous) underarm deoderant, antacid, skin irritation from insect bites, poison ivy, or sunburn, put in boots to absorb odor and dampness, wash veggies, clean hair and laundry....endless possibilities. Plus, it's lightweight. Win-win.

Wallyworld (as I have revisited several times recently, thanks guys) sells an inexpensive mosquito net that is only for face/head. Packs small, and if I have to be out in the Piney Woods, there will be bugs. I can tolerate them and even sleep outdoors, but I hate having them on my face...

For a quick shelter build I carry 14" black electrical ties.

I also carry 2 small broadheads for a spear point.

To keep the knees dry I will carry a piece of cordura which also works for laying gear out on.

And last, but not least I carry a glue stick which can be melted with a flame. I had a few of them in my archery box for broadhead adhesive.
