Hmmnn.....will to survive....cold tolerance.....wet tolerance.....several days without food....traveling at night....pain tolerance.....can you pull the trigger without hesitation.....act and react under pressure.....everyone has skills to a degree...I think the real skills most of us will never know if we have or not....we can question if we have it...we can plan for it.....we can equip ourselves for it.....but until you have been in life or death situation.....I'm not trying to be smartass....I just think the most important skills are how you control your mind and react to what is put in front of you....all skills after that are a bonus....

No doubt that you need both. All the will in the world wont show you how to load a gun if you have never done so before. But I like the insight that it's about more than physical abilities.

drt4lfe, For some, once you have those skills you put them in a safe place that you guard and only release if you have to. Then, you look at your children and hope you never have to. My wife asked once 26 years ago and then told me to lie to her if she ever asked anything again.........she never has. Focus on your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and you will rise to the occasion.

I like to have a large skill set. One thing i have not heard mentioned is making your own shoes. This is something i have been learning more about recently. This once was a a very prominent profession and now there are only a few with this skill set. If you are interested here is a site on how to make your own custom made shoes. healthyhandmadeshoes.com
