We have a natural gas whole house generator that came with a conversion kit. I believe that most of these can be converted just make sure you have that kit. We are thinking about a very large propane tank but havn't figured out where to set it yet. I would really like to put up a good privacy fence first as we do live on a corner lot and we need more privacy. Even though most all of our neighbors are working together, we have several that fish and 2 that does big game hunting and supplies a lot of us with deer, bear and wild hog meat not to mention the fish. but still i would feel better with a little more privacy to our back yard.

I converted my Generac to propane. I got my kit from the these folks. They were very helpful.

If it was man made it can be man re-made.

Years ago I got a 1972 Onan Power Plant for free. It was taken out of a industrial building and was used for a back up lighting. Its 110/220v runs on either natural or propane gas. It runs on regular low (10-13 inch) pressure. Still see the cross hatching in the cylinder and run like a champ. The only problem is it takes 4 people to pick it up.
