Water, Water Everywhere and not a drop to drink... Flooding often fouls municipal water systems. Earthquakes damage pipes and infrastructure causing water contamination. Power outages due to storms leave people without the electricity required to move water to their taps. Be it flooding, hurricane, tornado, earthquake or National Emergency, it is wise for everyone - every family - to have an alternative source of safe drinking water. Affordable and easy to use with discounted pricing available to groups and organizations, The Outback™ is the perfect emergency water source for you and your family.

FIRST CHOICE: Sawyer 3-Way Inline Water Filter

Average cost: $49.95

Review: The 3-Way Inline Water Filter is a solid top choice due to its rapid flow rate, incredible ease of use, and ability to produce insanely filtered water. Sawyer is notorious for top-notch filters. This one, if used correctly, offers exceptional protection from bacteria and protozoa since these organisms can't physically pass through the filter pores. Sawyer also makes a purifier that can remove viruses if that is a possible issue on your trip. When the filter is in place, you can simply fill up your bladder and immediately start drinking. If your water source contains large particles or sediments, it's a good idea to pre-filter your water through a cloth, micro-bag, or even a coffee filter before running it through the filter to avoid damage. The system also comes with a faucet attachment so you can filter tap water while traveling. To top it all off, you get a one million gallon guarantee, which means if you properly clean and care for your filter, it can last a lifetime.

SECOND CHOICE: Seychelle Radiological Drinking Straw

Price: $ 22.95 / Each

1. Product Specs: The filter removes the four basic zones of contamination: Aesthetic (Chlorine, taste and odor), Chemicals (from Industry and Agriculture), Dissolved Solids (heavy metals such as lead, mercury, Chromium 6) and up to 99% of Radiological Contaminants such as Gross Beta, Radon 222, Radium 226, Plutonium, Uranium, Strontium, Cesium 137 and Radioactive Iodine 131. The filter is designed with a hard shell that is formed to exact or 2 micron absolute porosity. The filter is impregnated with various proprietary media that have the ability to remove, absorb, adsorb, chemically bond and chelate different contaminants as they pass through the tortuous path designed in the filter. It is the ideal filter system for those concerned about radiological contamination that might exist in drinking water supplies!

2. Key Features:

THIRD CHOICE: The Outback™ Water Purification System

Price: $159.00

1. Review: The Outback™ is a gravity-powered™ system that purifies water from almost any fresh or moving water source. Rugged and durable, it was designed to be used when municipal systems are compromised or are not available. The Outback's™ design has been proven effective by rescue, relief and religious organizations in Latin America, Africa and Asia and throughout the world. It is currently used by such organizations as the U.S. Government, Red Cross, Youth Mission, Boy Scouts of America, Mormon Church (LDS Church), NW HardRain Expeditions and a multitude of Local Fire Departments.

a. Simple enough for a child to operate. Just pour water into the upper chamber through The Outback's™ pre-filter net to remove large particles of sediment and debris. The Outback™ delivers 6 gallons of purified water per hour*. FEMA, Red Cross and other agencies recommend an emergency supply of at least 1 gallon of potable water per person per day. Most purification systems produce only enough water for an individual. The Outback™ will easily purify water for an entire family for the duration of an emergency.

2. Function:

a. Purification: To protect from virus add either a small amount of standard household bleach or common iodine tablets to the upper chamber (source water). This additive will devitalize virus and bacteria (the additive will be removed from your drinking water in later stages of filtration).

b. Secondary Filtration: Next the water flows through the 0.5 micron filter located in the upper chamber. This filter removes particles 0.5 microns or greater in size, including the removal of cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

c. Final Filtration: The Outback's™ final removal stage is a bacteriostatic multi-media filter, located in the lower chamber. This filter contains mixed media which will effectively remove or reduce 70+ contaminants, including chlorine, bad tastes and odors, iodine/iodide, organics, pesticides insecticides and herbicides.

d. Outback Purification Kit - complete with filters: (Filter package includes Pre-Filter Net, 2 Sediment Pre-Filters and 1 Mixed Media Filtration Cartridge - enough to purify 1800 gallons of water.) Sediment Prefilter Capacity 600-900 gallons based upon source water condition. Replace every 6 months or when flow slows below operational level.

e. This portable water purification system destroys harmful bacteria and viruses, including E.coli, Cholera, Hepatitis and Polio. It's 0.5 micron filter removes cysts to levels exceeding EPA standards - achieving greater than 4 log (99.99%) reduction rate as tested by NSF (National Sanitation Foundation). Mixed Media Cartridge Capacity 1800 gallons or 12 months

f. Just pour the raw or questionable water through the pre-filter net and into the upper pail or optional gathering pail. (The Source water container). Pre-filter net removes debris and large sediment particles.

g. Addition of 1 Tablespoon of regular household bleach* or 1 iodine tablet** destroys bacteria and virus that may be present in the water. (Follow instructions for specific contact times which may vary based upon water quality.) Sediment Pre-filter removes contaminants down to 0.5 microns in size, including the removal of cysts.

h. Multimedia cartridge removes many industrial and agricultural contaminants as well as chlorine, iodine and bad tastes and odors.

i. Flow Rate:	1/10th gallon/minute or 6 gallons/hour
