It has been near draught conditions here. Being off grid (water) makes things interesting. We are carring water to the gardens. Good training for post event gardening.
I have not blogged in awhile, I was called out of town. It took a few days to get the gardens straightened out. We are digging potatoes. It looks like we will have corn and green beans by the 4th of july. The kids are keeping the peas picked clean.
After watching "mountainmen" and hearing how many calories per day he needed to maintain his weight. I wonder how many calories per day a person burns gardening. Not as much in our normal garden, but more so in our no gasoline post scenario garden. I am sure that we are getting a net gain of calories. Our gardens are likely three times bigger then the normal families. This is due to our experimental gardens.
Planted more sweet corn. With two kids you go through an amazing amount. Complemplating doing a bunch of container gardening next year. If so I better increase my composting now.
We finally got some rain. I was getting tired of all the watering. Everything is looking good.
